Vtubers don't exist in a vacuum and almost every single indie that's ever made it received help from other content creators typically in the form of raids or sharing their content on social media. They exist. My experience with ~1000 follower vtuber Discords is that they have a couple of hundred members but only 20 are active.
Lily Hopkins Discord has 300 members online but there is always very little activity besides the usual suspects.

Often I'll find I'm not interested in most of the discussion or it happens at totally different times to when I'm on, and just mute the server rather than leave it entirely. I like to keep my list of servers as small as possible, but I've been feeling tempted to join Nina's, Shimada's, and Alice's servers for some of the community watchalongs and that koikatsu thread anon meantioned.
