I'm still confused as to what the end product of this is supposed to be. I get it's a "multimedia" project, but the only confirmed manga is cancelled, and now all it really looks like is a PV and a hiring spree. Anime would be too expensive. They might grab another artist for the manga, but what's the point of a manga based on lore when you don't have the voices? It's just going to be any other manga with the characters replaced with Hololive designs. A tcg, even though the characters are already in another tcg? It's most likely to be a game, but I wasn't aware they had any previous game developers on board, and if they're just starting now it's going to take some time to make one.

More PVs like that could be cool, but that's a lot of money down the drain for something that doesn't really make money back. If they wanted advertising, they could have spent way less money for more reach. The PV isn't cringe, it's pretty cool. Announcing a huge project with nothing seemingly confirmed and having no clarity on what it actually is, is cringe.

...but all in all, it's just marketing. You have something popular, you market it more and expand into other fields, casting a wider net to find fans of your franchise (which will lead them to everything else apart of the franchise.)
If it does well, that's awesome and they get a new way to make money. If it fails, then most likely it at least makes it money back or draws in enough people into the franchise to make up for the loss.

It's not, as both would simply be adaptations of self standing works of fiction that have no tie to anyone real.
Meanwhile vtubers are essentially just actual people wearing a mask and riding under a pseudonym and a bit of flimsy backstory created for charm and convenience.
When you're making an anime adaptation of a manga, you're just recreating fictional scenes and events in another format.

Apparently, the goal of HololiveALT is to present the characters as they would be in their own world independent of how the actual vtuber is. So Marine might not be the “I’m Horny!” girl, she might act like a real pirate would for example.
