being a vtuber seems sad honestly. Like what are you even doing.

I mean, that's only if you are good and hit the jackpot joining Hololive. Most indie chuubas don't really earn that much.
Still, you are getting paid for something you like so I see it as a win even if it's only a hobby

That's the same for musicians and actors, but I don't see anyone calling them sad.

People that want to vtube for the money will quickly find themselves in literally who hell and find out that they have no personality and are boring.

People that vtube out of loneliness will, even on the unlikely chance of succeeding, find themselves distant from their fans and still without actual friends that aren't just horny simp fans.

In Gura's case, you spend 3 hours a day playing games or reading out comments while half drunk, then you get loads of money.

A musician or an artist is improving a skill at least. Despite some genuine entertainment to be had by streamers, most waste their time playing games or talking and doing nothing really that can help them when they retire. Some learn to sing or learn to dance, but that is usually the exception.

I think having at least a few songs is already a fair distinction that you can use that talent professionally. I am not sure if Gura meets the same bar with strumming a few notes on her banjo and karaoke. Nothing against her, I know she wants to make an original song as well and I hope she gets there.

in a workplace environment, you get a lot less money, not only do you also talk to people but you are also obligated to do work at strict schedules nonstop

We know Mori was a rapper before she started vtubing, and she's produced songs under HL. But either way, entertaining is entertaining.

>> No.1126931

Sure, but that's only Mori. and even there I wouldn't be sure that her popularity was enough to keep her afloat. And I would not be too sure that the fame from HL carries over, though I absolutely wish it for all of them. Experiences among /mlp/ show that you got to find something else that keeps you popular, and I do not think all 30+ holos would have that luck if they were to count on that as a future career.

>>1119496
Most don't care about views, but have fun. The smaller companies and indies I watch are usually super chill and love to entertain even if it's for double-digits. I feel like holoEN is suffering from having high expectations as well as meme numbers, you can tell Gura doesn't want the popularity while Kiara is the opposite. It works best for girls like Ina and Mori who have other projects and income.

It does. The difference is that you can rely on a talent that is in demand. Shitposts require a lot of external factors to be acknowledged enough for the revenue to be worthwhile. But you are not going to depend on your revenue from shitposts for 10 years, much less put them on your resumé. There are few Youtubers who have been fulltiming this long for good reasons. It's already difficult enough without having to rely on luck and the kindness of the algorithm to make a living off of it.

That's her being a somewhat entertaining streaming presence and it's working out for her now. I am not saying she isn't talented or doesn't deserve where she is now. But for the third time, long-term success matters. How many vtubers do you expect to continue streaming in 10 years?

They get all the cash and perks of being a streamer with none of the loss of privacy/anonymity that comes with being an "online influencer". It's genuinely the best of both worlds. There's a reason so many people are dogpiling it right now. A vtuber who has "made it" is maybe the most comfortable position you can be in.
