It’s a good game to play with friends.
It’s not really about the gameplay, it’s actually about the conversations you have (getting people on your side, proving innocence, etc.).
I think a lot of the reason why people dislike it is that they are either playing it in a weird way or watching a stream. I found out recently that there are a huge amount of people who only play by using the text chat, I tried that once and it was so fucking boring. As well, some people play with total strangers, which also sucks because it’s pretty much just all business and no fun.
Watching a stream sucks because among us is an interactive game, and just watching it instead of playing is boring.
Overall, if you want to have fun with the game I would say play with friends, know the game, but at the same time use it as an excuse to have fun conversations. I’m a big fan of party games, and usually party games don’t blow up like amoogus did, so there are a bunch of people who don’t know how to play them right

So I just found out Ina actually never does superchat readings, not just rarely but unironically never. Which is kind of a disappointment since I sent her a pretty big superchat and was wondering when she would read it. It makes me wonder why she even has superchats enabled on her streams if the only thing you're buying is like a highlighted message that other people in the chat will read? It's kind of misleading letting people give you money with the expectation of having their message read and then just... not do it. One of our indies, Nina has had a steady climb in popularity based purely on her effort and skill. She hasn't been really advertising herself as she just streams and puts her reps in. She has been training singing on her own and she's been drawing for her friends while working a 9 to 5.

Portal 2 was such a step down from Portal 1 on the puzzle side of things. Every solution was almost immediately obvious or very strongly hinted at because of how intentionally limited the surfaces you could put your portals on were.
