They take advantage of the scale to use more complex pattern (that look like shit at small scale but are a better approximation at large scale).
Checkerboard pattern is too restrictive and is outperformed by any other dithering algorithm for large images but for the scale we're dealing with in pixelcanvas most dithering algorithm don't perform well.

There's definitely some level of aggression that's being pushed and I agree that we should leave 100k, 100k alone in favor of the center, but I don't think the takos and slide posting is necessarily in the same lane as the guy trying to start slapfights with anyone and everyone. The constant defence inherent to having art in the canvas center inherently creates a sense of battle, and that in turn is naturally going to lead to an aggressive response to parties that try to remove our art like quagsire guy and the slide. Truthfully I think that it's actually a good thing since it seems to make people engage with the thread more, which will hopefully lead to more hands working on the permanent area.
