so many other chuubas just seem fine with playing games on stream. that's it. just playing games while live streaming. every one of them all stagnate at low double digits. if you want to make it, you need to do more than just go live and play a game.

listen to Randon and Slugma and realize you need to provide value to your audience. the easiest thing that chuubas can do is to treat streaming like a performance. when the stream starts, your viewers are watching an experience, not just some person goes live and plays a game for 2 hours. not saying that it needs to be a fully scripted 1 hour long tv show levels of production value. but it has to be more than doing nothing but just playing a game and grunting now and then.

A couple of questions.

How important is it to have a separate Steam account for chubbing? I've been planning to include dota in my streams, if they happen haha, and it's been a huge hassle to get into ranked.
>inb4 stream your required hundred hours

Should I bother streaming on a small site like Odysee? I ask this because twitch's site culture and lingo don't sit well with me for some reason. My main options are still Youtube and Facebook, though Facebook is only there because it's somehow the main streaming platform on my region and Youtube might still be my main platform anyway but I don't like how corporate Youtube has become; and Twitch is even worse on this respect imo.

Finally, where can I freely play music without losing the audio for the whole stream?

This.
A good exercise to do is to write down what you're good at or knowledgeable about. Surely there's something about you that might seem as normal and mundane but it would be completely new and interesting to other people. The key thing is to be really passionate about that thing you like and to not force yourself.

I really don’t get the Twitch culture meme. I read YouTube chats and they’re not any better.
Regardless, I’ve been in plenty of smaller Twitch chats and they’re perfectly normal. You know how people on the rest of the board say “like streamer like audience”? It’s like that on Twitch too. You’ll get a group of people who you’ll get along with no matter what, and the Ludwig/XQC/Critikal types will leave you alone.

this works better with 3D since it's gonna cost a lot to render over exaggerated expressions in 2D and also get them rigged well enough to be convincing.

this is really why every /asp/ie should just slap a PNG and get started streaming for at least a month before thinking about debut. you won't know what kind of content will come naturally to you or if that's the type of stuff you want to make personally. it wouldn't make sense to debut as a high energy creative gremlin only to realize that you're burnt out just one month down the line.

>> No.10806927

I'll be honest about something as a viewer and I'd be interested to hear y'all's thoughts on it coming from the other side of the fence.

I feel extremely awkward about money when it comes to watching low-viewer and aspiring Vtubers. With bigger streamers, it's clear that you're viewing content being created by a content creator for an audience, so it reasonably makes sense that you would donate or pay in a way that feels reasonable for the content you're getting to watch and to help support the content creator in question.

But with Vtubers with extremely low viewer counts, for whatever reason it feels extremely awkward to me to donate in what feels like more of a "watching an online friend play a game they like" environment. All of a sudden it feels like there's an obligation on both ends to acknowledge and respond to being paid to an extent that doesn't really exist for high view chuubas, where instead their audience is a large mass of people with a varied pool of donors. On top of that, if you superchat a small viewer regularly for something it immediately becomes apparent if you stop or don't at some point in the future. That, and I haven't even started to get into the whole angle that a low-view chuuba absolutely needs your monetary support more than a larger one might even in spite of all of those social barriers.

Are there any ways to help break down that barrier and reduce the awkwardness that exists in a small audience with money involved, both for viewers and for the streamer themselves?

Okay, /asp/ies I have a question regarding lore.

I know it doesn't matter and how much you want to keep the kayfabe or work on said lore is up to you. This is old stuff, but I look at HoloCouncil and I see their lore pretty...Chuuni, for a lack of a better word, and how much big heads want the girls to rely/use it, when their selling point should be their personalities. The girls themselves are nice, but the chuuni when they were announced and debuts made me cringe a bit.

Does too much or too little lore put you off from watching other vtubers? Have you asked other people what they think about lore and kayfabe? Go chuuni or something simple?

I think it's because Steam shows others names you account had in the past so that is a big yabee in case someone decides to dig on you.
As for the bullets, for example I've decided I'm not going anywhere near Reddit and Tiktok if I can help it. Reddit only helps when others shill you and it happens organically without you desperately posting self-threads, and even if you do most of the time you barely get any traction from them.
Tiktok because it's filled with zoomers and they don't have money (for the most part, unless you somehow hit their algorithm of bratty rich kids) or don't move to Youtube as easily as you'd think.

Ah, okay okay. There aren't many people who know enough of me to recognize me or could track me from even my past Steam handles unless they are very close to me but I'll make a chubby account just in case.

How do you guys find people to raid after stream, and do you have a system?

I used to let chat vote in a google form, as to whether we'd go for 'someone I follow', 'someone in the same game', or 'a vtuber who's in my recommended'. Kept this up for a few weeks, and it was pretty much always "someone else in the same game", and they nearly always sucked (I didn't want to raid into the huge channels with 5~10 viewers).

I now have a 'guide the raid' for 3000 points, and if anyone asks if they can pick the raid target it's a nice way to politely say no.

If nobody picks that, I'll generally aim for a vtuber I've actually watched, because that way they won't be entirely shit... But it means quite a limited group of targets - they all stream when I do, so it's not like I can find new ones easily

So there's three categories of games, and there's quite a bit of overlaps, but each might help you grow

1 - Games you enjoy, and are passionate about. If you can wax poetic about the underlying story in Stardew Valley, and how it's truly the millenial/zoomer dream of a rich relative dying so that you get all their shit, you might get viewers

2 - You're god-tier at it. If you're #1 in the world at jungling as Engy, and can hotswap the Gray Fox's mask in/out at speed, you'll pull a crowd in the hope of getting better.

3 - Pandering to your audience. Play Gartic Phone, Amogus, or Jackbox, with an open invite for your chat to join in. People cruise these categories to join games.

Figure out what you like, and what you're good at. Check out other streamers - if nobody streams it, you might get all the fans. Mid-tier ones you might get a decent raid to build a following. Super mega games, you'll be drowned out by the existing streamers. But if you can shill well, you might just get a following

I've been getting those as ads ever since I started looking up vtuber stuff and most of the time the lore feels vestigial.
The last time I got excited over a chubba's lore was Ria but she was kind of bland and the other vtuber I have actually been watching with some regularity is Yuzuki Rai, who has no lore to speak of.

in my opinion you want to have enough detail where your model can be easily broken up visually into distinct shapes with good contrast in colors

you want to keep in mind that your model is going to be zoomed out and in the corner of people's screens

if you have a lot of super tiny trinkets or details then when it gets zoomed out it will muddy your image

look at the difference between kronii vs faunas design at the half body point, they have almost an equal amount of "stuff" but kronii's lines are darker and thicker and her colors are bright and theres more contrast with the shadows

faunas has thinner softer lines, and her colors are more blended, so from a distance it looks mushier and harder for the eyes to immediately follow in comparison

Networking has hit a bit of a wall recently, but I'm pushing myself a bit further, making more shitposts on twitter and working to actually talk more, not just like posts.

Streaming wise, I'm doing more analysis on post-stream figures, to try and figure out what's worth dropping or keeping. Starting to do extended streams, rather than a 3 hour standard, and it's getting better numbers.

Content creation wise, I'm doing more with my clips, and trying to add subtitles in a more interesting manner, not just words on screen. Getting fade ins, kerning, and layering to work right. I'm also updating a lot of the assets for streaming - I created new panels, and I'm working on making myself animated loading screens. They'll be shit, but they'll be better than what I currently have.

One thing that's annoying is that I set a follower goal, and maybe announced it a bit early, because I've seen a much larger streamer say they're doing something very similar, but before I'll be able to do mine. I don't interact with the bigger one, and none of their moots follow me, so it's likely just an organic thing, but it still kind of irks me.

I don't see anything too wrong with it - a generic pretty brown girl.

Some minor concerns:
- Eyepatch. This could make the face harder to express, depending on how rigid it is
- I don't like the gloves.
- The colour of the trousers, and the height, combined with the suspenders makes it look like fishing waders
- maybe just because I have inturned feet, but I don't like inturned feet I like feet in general though. They're not cute, they just make me think the model has bad posture.

Depends how big you want to make it, man. By the end of October, I'll be getting my first Twitch payout, and my first sponsorship. I don't expect to get more than that for... A long time, if ever.

Both debut before the big Hololive EN boom, especially Mint who started back in what? July of last year? When you started matters because back then it was significantly easier (from what I can tell) than now, where the market is significantly more over saturated and nothing is really fresh or new.

That isn't to say that in 6-8 months it'd be impossible to have this level success since plenty of people blow up, but the connections the early-adopters made can have great impact on the (visual) quality of the stream via assets, the eyes on you via promotion and being close-quarters with other early-adopters/big names (Like Iron Mouse blowing up after Zentreya/Mousey noticed them, Silvervale blowing up after being associated with Zen, etc), and all the people who grew because they were some of the first people doing it at a decent level.

If you’re not covering up too much of the actual game and you’re not using a million colors you’re probably fine.

>300 bucks
Doesn't seem like much but that would help a lot around the house. The perks of being of being in LATAM, even a 5 bucks tip already covers my breakfast and lunch. Even if I'm not corpo big if I can get at least those 113 would help a lot.

today i had like three people in chat and 5 viewers, i was just singing... it felt good and i had a lot of fun, life good

That's good, keep it up. Are they all regulars, or new faces?
I wouldn't mind dropping in if you dropped a link here the next time you stream.

>general advice in /asp/ is to start streaming and get a png
>nonstop audition talk from people who never had streaming experience before
>cope when they fail the auditions blaming the companies for picking more established streamers

What does this teach you? Start streaming and get that experience in.

This is fine and all but the problem is when even when you start streaming and get some experience the threshold gets bigger and bigger.
Can't really blame people for feeling discouraged when they start making content, even after a while, and hear nothing back.

>streaming to 0 viewers
What do you even do aside from actually playing the game or doing whatever you're doing?

Yeah, the threshhold inreases - you could maybe have got into HoleENg1 with a much smaller audience than g2.

But if one starts streaming today, then they'll be closed to the gap. I know these are trite sayings, and I'm kind of showing my age:
>The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now this is not true, the 2nd best time was 19years and 364 days ago. Today is the 7301st best time
>You out there, walking around the track, have lapped everyone sitting on the couch.

If you don't start streaming, you will NEVER be big enough. Sure, if you start, you're unlikely to ever be big enough, but if you do well, and people like you, there's a chance.

LAM has always been great with bright, intense colors.
They've drawn many designs which have a lot going on and still look aesthetically pleasing overall.
Probably comes with years of drawing experience in honing their art style.

>>10939035
Instead of getting "experience", I feel that what companies are looking for instead are "accomplishments".
So not "streamed for xx months", but "gaining an audience of xxx followers".
Not "streamed consistently x times per week", but "gaining audience consistently with x new viewers per week" or "getting xxx consistent views per stream".

Everyone can get experience. Everyone has experience.
Making content is not the same as getting people to consume your content.

Nevertheless, everyone has to start out somewhere. But not everyone has the accomplishments to get noticed.

>> No.10939401

>>10939326
This is true. If everyone has months of experience, then they have to find some other criteria to differentiate between all the candidates. Next thing to look at would be numbers and accomplishments. If everyone is super, then nobody is.

Where can I comission my first design for a good price to quality ratio?

I don't want L2D right now because I can't afford(and honestly a good design will do me better than a worse one even if its not l2d) it but even on twitter the designs alone are very expensive.

With the debut of Nijisanji Ethyria soon, did any of you guys apply for Nijisanji (I know it's late to ask) but how was your experience?
Does knowing their past lives motivate you or discourage you?
