Dunno what the Apex scene is like on the NA/EU side but the issue I see is that for the JP they want to "balance" the teams for the tournaments and the best way to do this is through their rankings. The only esports scene ive known is Dota 2 so il just use them as an example, in there teams can compose of anyone and of any ranking, in a tournament you can have a team full of the top players while another full of shitters, or at least they are according to their rankings. There can be top players who just haven't played enough or don't have the motivation to grind for higher rankings.
