Has any anons here actually made it as an indievTuber, or any semblance of renown? Or any English indie vTuber that's made it?
The only guy I vaguely know of is WooHooLad even though I don't watch him and this other dude with pasty white skin and shark teeth? Don't remember his name.
Im just curious if it's even possible for a guy to make it as a vTuber without being part of a corporation or catering to fujoshi/yaoi groups.

You didn't define "making it" which make the thread useless
Many people have very weird definitions of making it because they only see the very surface of 0.001% people
Since 25 viewers is basically easily top 1%, is that making it? You're better than 99% of vtubers. If you limit to male vtubers it's likely even far more impressive. In that sense, some people in wvt "made it".

If you mean more than 100 viewers almost no one, the only 2 that could qualify are
- Mocca, he indeed is (or was) a 4channer for a long time, before vtubers, and selfposted a bunch of times too
- Little_S, not a huge channer but used /fit/ and posted in wvt for a few weeks mentionning he's been around the site on and off

Randon gets around the same amount of viewers that mint fantome used too.

The catch 22 with male vtubers is that if you truly have what it takes to draw in the viewers and make money, you'd literally get anywhere between 2x and 10x more viewers and money if you just dropped the vtubing and became a normal facecam streamer (unless you're hideously ugly beyond belief), because at that point having a virtual avatar is just a massive debuff.

Why? It's practically on par with just a facecam in what you can do with it.

You underestimate the amount of normies that hate anime, hate vtubing because of various misconceptions (like thinking most vtubers are middle aged men with voice changers pretending to be young girls or boys) or simply can't get into a stream or would never consider giving them money if they don't see the streamers real face and know more about their real life.

Vast, vast majority of vtuber fans are males. Slightly less in Japan but still basically just guys.
In the more casual viewers maybe you can find some girls (often watching with their bf), but they're not gonna donate.

Like or not most people watch vtubers to see something cute/attractive to them and/or as a surrogate girlfriend, since it tricks your dumb brain to think you're talking every day with a girl and that everything is alright.
The amount of gay guys and girls fans is just laughable, so male vtuber is barely a thing as a result unless they come from an existing fanbase as not-a-vtuber.

Counting Mocca as male is stupid. That's really only technically true.

Why? He doesn't market himself as a girl, talk like a girl or ever say he is one. He's mentioned multiple times being closer to a femboy, which is still a boy.Even his lewd art has a penis, basically he doesn't get the female automatic bonus. I think it counts.

Guys can use girl avatars to be cute. You also don't have to target the stereotypical vtuber demographic.

You guys think a male vTuber doing something like Dr Girlfriend would succeed?
WooHooLad attempted this but didn't really have much of a character it seems, but I can see something like this being pulled off.
Just the guy can't break kayfabe often

Male content creators have made it. Many of them got in early before the Susaning. Many of them water down their content and target an underage demographic of teenage girls. Many of those who didn't got deplatformed. The rest are mostly cringe. There's that robot guy who does vtuber news, but that's only relevant if you unironically care about constantly following the meta.

Personally, I don't see being a public figure in viscerally misandrist west as the kind of opportunity genuinely talented people would be attracted to unless they plan to go the traditional route of facecamming and pandering for the sole purpose of profiteering. At that point it doesn't even matter because we already have that.

As far as male vtubers who'd be doing it for the love of entertaining people, the issue is whether or not people online are genuinely endearing. They're not. Any man can see that social media users are literal niggers with a nigger-like crabs in a bucket mentality. Even if there's opportunities to exploit that, it's impossible for a man to feel any love, respect or kinship for social anarchy as men instinctively desire systems of order and ethics.

tldr The west is no place for sincere male chubas, and Nijimale will probably wind up either floundering and/or getting justifiably metoo'd. I say justifiably because even though I think the me first movement is bullshit, it wouldn't be the first time Niji had problems with guys just joining to fuck their oshi. Otherwise, we'll just get mainstream pandering like pewdiepie or Ludwig and it'll be sanitized as fuck.

There's already apparently been shitstorms about how people who like evil anime character share themselves evil, so the one thing we'll never get is based anime Hitler, Nobunaga, or any type of unfettered, larger than life demon lord. Masculinity and dominance are dirty words in the west, and anyone who doesn't simp hard enough for m'ladies like a good virtual eunuch won't be long for mainstream platforms. This is why western vtubers in general will never truly be good, because the best anime drags people outside their comfort zone rather than pandering to the hyper risk averse western advertisers who pull the strings behind both YouTube and Twitch.
