Eh, I prefer turn-based over real-time anytime. The Etrian Odyssey series, to me, is one of my favorite combat engines for JRPGs to date. Likewise for Temple of Elemental Evil for western RPGs.

Real-time just seems so hectic and messy - admittedly, that's probably due to my slow reflexes and slower strategizing. I'm fine with real-time with pause, though.

It was as good as Pekora makes them but the game didn't help as Fallout 4 is pretty ass to begin with and it becomes even worse if you don't immerse yourself in the side-content which is the main dish.
Pekora is far too much of a linear story type of player to properly get into side-quest heavy games. Not saying that makes Fallout 4 any good but WRPGs are in general a lot more side-content focused than main-story focused.

It's the same difficulty Pekora played on last stream. But actually, I've been wondering about this. The characters are seriously great. I was completely wrong about Kamyu at first but in a good way as he turned out to be much more enjoyable than I thought he'd be.
Veronica is exactly what I expected so far, a smug lolibaba but that is a staple that is hard to mess up.
Senya is a bit vanilla and safe so she isn't all that interesting but I don't really mind the "pure with a heart of gold" character type.
Shiruvia seems to be that aloof character that has a serious side to him that he hides behind 11 irony proxies which is a very common character but as Pekora says, he is the mood maker and makes for a bunch of fun interactions.
The prince and the king story as well as Kamyu being captured and Pekora's reaction to it was definitely my highlights for this stream. That fucking flying dogeza had me laughing hard.

And speaking of fights, it is nice to see that she has gotten "better" at turn-based combat by utilizing stuff like sleeping enemies and using more efficient attacks here and there instead of just brute forcing it with normal attacks.

That's a boss fight where you NEED +3 forged gear, or the best you can find, to be 2-3 levels above what the game probably intends for you to be at, AND double SSR/5* in a single 10 roll luck to win.

While the Spider Boss is hard, I think by then you have enough tools to ease him up. The Doll boss you just have so few options available by then for grinding and gearing. He is certainly A wall, but not a Great Wall.

I just don't really dedicate much time to playing games anymore. I think in the last 2 months I've probably played like 5 hours a week on average, so even if all that time was spent on DQ, she'd still get ahead. I can't blame you since I also thought the individual threads were going to be the worst idea possible but somehow it turned out fine.
It has to be the sweet spot of not being too fast, or too slow, as well as being on a board that also isn't too fast meaning there is less incentive to post a bunch of meaningless spam to bump the thread.
But best of all is probably that this thread can actually die for hours at a time during inactivity so there is usually little off-topic stuff.

Wouldn't say she was close to crying but the decision to save up and sing all those birthdays wasn't the wisest one because you could hear how strained her voice was. I don't know, JRPGs' style never really appealed to me. I grew up on WRPGs like the first two fallouts and other ones from that time and there's something about japanese fantasy worlds that doesn't do it for me. And having played almost no classic japanese games besides mario I don't have a soft spot fot them. DQ just makes me zone out and get distracted by other things. Doesn't help that to follow the story in I need complete focus which is hard to come by at 5 am
