Maybe? There is an understood notion that kindred would be greatly upset if it were ever revealed he had a girlfriend or was dating one of the female livers. Yet if it were to be revealed he was dating a man, this would lessen the impact and outrage because of it. If it were Ike, many would be overjoyed. Perhaps it's because they are aware they will never have a realistic chance with him, so the idea of him with a woman is just salt in the wound, but a man would make it as though they truly never had a chance to begin with, even a hypothetical one, because they're not what he was looking for in a partner.
