Incorrect. You see, the apple they ate was the fruit from "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil". Now, why did god decide that they shouldn't eat from this specific tree? The name implies if you eat the fruit, you become aware of good and evil. Was god purposely sheltering them from learning about good and evil?
If we were to assume god is a benevolent being, then he had good intentions, and that he kicked Adam and Eve out as a necessity. To become aware of good and evil, humans must have something to lose, be able to feel hurt etc... From that they can understand kindness and compassion. It was more akin to a mother bird letting its children fly and be independent, because Adam and Eve cannot be coddled and remain in the garden forever.
If we were to take the bibble for its word then the whole premise is real fucking grimdark, like we suffer because a million years ago some woman made a guy eat an apple when she was told no and now the entire collective humanity has to suffer for it? Frankly that's retarded.
