I don't think it was eigoreps for anyone other than maybe Tenma, who's had a recent bout of interest as he starts to unironically blow through english learning. But he already had a reputation as the human breeder who's fascinated by bug metas.
The real first shift was when they started getting noticed for their own stuff, and not just getting shilled by collab beggars like some in /hlg/ would do. That was stuff like Auran's Gunpla building streams, or Astel's 24 hour Karaoke especially.
Around that time we also got a dedicated homoposter who knew their stuff about the guys and told their stories really well to everyone, and conveyed a sense of genuine interest in the talents instead of using them as shitposting fuel. That guy was the reason half the posters here now would understand why it's funny to just post

THAT'S what brought them positive attention here, far more than the eigo streams: a fan who genuinely liked them, and their own efforts being properly conveyed. It's much the same reason that Kanata got so popular with anons here, to the point of a Kanatan stream even having equal attention to an Ame stream, which I never would've imagined a year ago. The effort of dedicated Heimin and her own talent is what caused that, and it's much the same for the homos.

Well when you think about it, there hasn't really been much to essaypost about these days, has there been?
Everyone that comes here even semi-regularly already knows the score of how things work. No one wants to read an essay about some stupid narrative, right? And the topics that would be relevant to write about have already been written about by now.
Combine that with it being college finals season for the last month, and I wouldn't be surprised for that to be the explanation for no real big essays. Maybe when the Vsinger comes out, or Soraposter finds some more financial info/interviews with Cover to dissect, but until then, we're all pretty much flying on a stable flight path. No new info, nothing that needs to be explained. There'll be things to write essays about, but forcing it would just be a bad idea, and I imagine they're more than a little self-conscious about tarnishing their "reputations" as somewhat trustworthy sources of their respective posts.

A lot of our notables are /hlg/ refugees.
Omaru-za are refugees because they couldn't discuss their oshi there anymore, and eventually a large chunk of Gen 5 posters ended up here.
Miofia came over here as one of the first groups of identifiable refugees at the start of the migration crisis, if I remember this.
I don't know why Hoshiyomi or Soratomo migrated over here, but clearly that happened at one point.
I remember Heimin being here since her 500k Karaoke months back, but they're here in force ever since the Undertale Genocide run.
There are many such instances, but it's wild. We have a lot of people here who migrated to be able to talk about their oshi in relative peace.
