/a/ died the moment they allowed generals on the board. I'm partly to blame because I enjoyed the Strike Witches threads which started it all but then the board got taken over by the Shinkgeki no Kyojinfags and every other popular anime/manga general. It still blows my mind that SNK became a mainstream hit, we originally just posted it because it was gorey and the art was fucking terrible. It was an oddity at the same time Terra Formars and Akame Ga kill were also popular so I thought it was just part of the "edgy schlock manga" people were enjoying, I didn't think it'd go on for TWELVE FUCKING YEARS.
