This happened way before NijiEN and HoloEN, but they really signaled the end

All of NijiEN and HoloEN really just use kayfabe for about a week or a month and then stop

This is pushed by the fact they're streamers, it can he hard to stay in character many hours for people who are lazy like most vtubers are
Kizuna Ai could do it because usually it was prepared pre-recorded content with some scripted elements too
Hyakumantenbara Salome does it but she's one of the few modern ones that stay in character

Vtubers in general don't stay in character anymore because the character isn't actually the "character" anymore, the character is now the aesthetic by which you're selling personalities

I admit her music is more "genuine" and "thought-out" than half the rap shit out today, but that doesn't mean anything substantial on its own.
Music is an audio format and I care about the entire package sure, but if what I'm listening to isn't sonically pleasing then what's the point of listening to music?

I don't care how smart/personal/deep lyrics are if the music literally doesn't sound good. It's all for nothing.

Ideally the best songs are both meaningful lyrics + sounds good, but if I was forced to pick between meaningful lyrics(Mori) or sounding good(Zoomer garbage), I'd definitely go for sounding good.
If you can listen to foreign music like jpop/kpop etc. without knowing the language and actually like the way it sounds based on the beat/melody/rhythm/sound of voice alone, surely you can listen to zoomer trash as long as just the sound is good as well.
