"vtuber" is not a trend, its a medium. It is no different from a televised puppet show, but online and with a different type of "strings" controlling the avatar.

Much like Sesame Street and the Muppets last to this day while Topo Giggio more or less disappeared (all having appeared more or less in the mid sixties) there will be characters from our generation of vtubers lingering around 40 years from now while others will disappear.

But unless the technology GREATLY surpasses what there is today (meaning real VR, with imersion that can be confused for the real thing) I don't think provinding a voice and animating an avatar will ever disappear
