Because Hololives popularly in the west was a meme. And I don't mean that in a derogatory way, just that it literally grew and burned out like other fads. It's why Myth is full of dead subs. Vtubing as a serious thing took root harder in Japan and has more staying power meanwhile it was used as a brief fashion accessory by western ecelebs like pokimane and pewdiepie then discarded. Hell the reason Gura was so huge on arrival was because she was already an eceleb with an established audience that people were waiting to return. A lot of people ended up staying to be sure but the vast majority forgot about it.

Anyone talking about "muh western audience" ruining anything are complete fucking retards. You will NEVER be Japanese and you have no clue what you're talking about.

I think the biggest crime is her being dumb enough to let it slip on stream. Hololive and vtubing in general is all about kayfabe and escapism. I'm not saying a majority of chuubas are liars or anything, but the reason roommate discussion isn't allowed here is a respect for the way a chuuba wishes to portray themselves and allowing their fans to enjoy themselves. The fact that rushia couldn't care enough to log out of discord to prevent this sort of thing happening is where I really take issue.
