Ya know, Kanye’s early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Donda came out in ‘21, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has an unapologetic, spiritual overcurrent and a new luster of transcendent chorals that really gives the tracks a big boost. He's been compared to Tyler the Creator, but I think Ye has a far more down-to-Earth, unpretending aura.
