Honestly his design is the best of the bunch. The manga art and fanart are fantastic. But the execution on the actual live2d is incredibly lacking. Tiny changes in proportions and facial features make a huge difference.

Well, maybe it could be the other way around, and they let the talents have input on the retarded lore this time after the council flop. Magni's introduction in the manga says he wants to uncover the secrets of the world. If you're a Prof believer this seems to suit his type of content.
He does what he always wanted to do but frames it as part of the character through the presentation and vocabulary, that would work. Instead of a professor, he's a curious alchemist.
