It's no secret that a LOT of people here are utterly depressed and miserable. We're losers, a lot of people can't handle being losers very well. Happy, successful, normal people generally don't end up in this fanbase.

So if you were a watcher of Gura, her streams were likely something you enjoyed, you looked forward to, would cheer you up. Having something to look forward to is incredibly powerful. He who has a 'why' can bare almost any 'how'. It must have influenced their moods, their outlooks. Even if they didn't even realise it. I wonder how many she was the 'why' for. I wonder how they're coping without it.
As someone without much of a 'why' I know that you latch onto any 'why' you can. I remember when Animal Crossing came out that was strongly my 'why' for a while. It was so nice to have a reason to wake up beyond just necessities. 'Gura's streaming ____ tonight, I love that game.' can be so important to people. This past year, a lot of people's 'why' has walked out on them. There's no doubt in my mind she's killed some people because of this. Which isn't her fault, there's always valid reasons to disappear, it shouldn't be on her, but it's interesting to think about.
