The series was clearly meant to be a slower paced slice of life/ monster of the week type of story for much longer than it actually was, but he got pushed into speeding up the action, and although the SS arc was kino, it ultimately led to the utter destruction of the overarching story and created a mass grave of dead (from a storytelling perspective) characters that rivals the 6 gorillion.
