While japanese and idol culture are without a doubt the biggest and arguably most important parts of vtubing, people who act like it's the only defacto definition of it are just close minded. Vtubing at it's foundation is just an animated character that is rigged to follow the movements of a real person behind a camera (with mocap or VR capture for 3d models), and if anything the possibilities as a whole for really good content outside of traditional /jp/ culture is endless and too ignored.
