If you're talking about "ccvid" that the was a huge CCV bug that took place in Dec 2021 and Jan 2022 and that was fixed
The earlier 2020 cull was intentional and seemed to be aimed against ad-blocking, embeds, multi-tab viewing, and whatever other ways of watching that don't contribute to their ad revenue

That is exactly what YT did originally.

The algorithm is more elaborate now though, so it doesn't seem like everyone with ad block is treated the same, but everyone watching from a 3rd party app, like vanced appears to not count as a viewer.

Probably why SEA is the hardest culled.
