Extremely short version:
>Manga was clearly building up a thru-line about how gathering control/power all under your own individual grasp and attempts at immortality to maintain your vision was a fool's errand with literally every single main bad guy, and that the bonds you make through trust and faith in each other, as well as the trust you give to the people who come after you, will always be stronger
>Naruto's arc was straight forward in that respect, while Sasuke had a counter-arc about how the dangers of that trust can play out, which led him to an alternate conclusion of "people who come together can be strong enough to keep the world at peace, but only if they come together through mutual enemies"
>that way, the Naruto/Sasuke fight still happens in the actual ending, and is why that's so much better than the Kaguya shit
>the ending that was likely being attempted was entirely different than the Kaguya shit
>Madara would've been the true main enemy all along, his plan still stays the same, but no Black Zetsu bullshit, he stays a plot device to show that even when Madara puts trust in others, it's only because they are literal puppets to his will
>his absolutely absurd OP bullshit is the point, he is literally not defeatable by Naruto or Sasuke no matter how strong they are, he is impossible to brute force beat
>but during the Fourth Ninja War, they show multiple other fights, including the one where a different team seals away two immortal fighters with a sealing jar

>the actual ending would've built on the main thru-line by having Naruto and Sasuke essentially use their power to keep Madara busy enough to keep him from using the Infinite Tsukiyomi, while covering for multiple other people who joined the fight to enact the sealing ritual on Madara
>despite him being stupid OP powerful, he can't be everywhere at once, and they actually manage to get it done through teamwork and sacrifice of some kind, because as strong as Madara is, no physical strength can beat that sealing stuff if you do it properly (see: the entire fucking point of sealing Tailed Beasts into people, they'd been using seals to chain up beasts of nigh-infinite power since THE FIRST FUCKING CHAPTER, THE STORY WOULD'VE STARTED AND ENDED WITH SEALING A BEAST)
>to make sure that Madara never gets out, because if he did, it would be impossible to stop him again, Obito takes back the Sharingan from Kakashi and seals himself in Kamui with the sealing jar, before blinding himself or something to make sure it can never get out, while also paying for his sins by condemning himself to be the warden until he dies
>Madara would've been at a place where he has exactly what he always wanted, eternal life and unlimited power, but be helplessly alone for eternity, left to reflect on the foolishness of his goal
