She was a wholesome camwhore who liked weebshit, who took an opportunity to evolve into a wholesome camwhore vtuber...similar to how a wholesome aspiring voice actress took an opportunity to become the wholesome virtual idol Kizuna Ai. In both cases, they tapped their pre-existing skillset as the basis for their brand and content before expanding into regular streaming, and debuted as 3D in their respective regions prior to the wave of Live2D spam that later flooded the market in the wake of a corporation popularizing that format.

tldr Melody's a western Kizuna Ai analogue of sorts, and even has her own controversial group of affiliated streamers (a couple of of which also target a foreign market). There's also hidden references to Fight Club and Sheath if you swap the first (or last) parts of her current and previous pseudonyms.
