I guess this answers my question. I'm musically trained so it's obvious to me that the gameplay is badly out of time with the music. It's caused by audio latency introduced by a TV or by using bluetooth peripherals or audio output. Games like this have a lag calibration setting to help with this and it sounds like it's set very wrong.
Or maybe she just sucks? I'm too tired for this shit
