she is not socially fluent and competent to think about and manage these expectations
your criticism is valid and also this is how she is and I'm not confident it will change

one thing I tend to think is that people are very hard to change through intention (their own or others'), and that it's actually rare for people's behavioral outputs to be changeable in a piecemeal manner.
as a rule every way they are unique and possibly interesting is tied up causally with every way they are dysfunctional and frustrating.
this is because all of these facets originated over time in a non purposeful way by life events and then generated further reactive behavior once installed, and all the causally-early generative elements are buried.
real deliberately-self-making individuals are rare. this is a kind of existential pessimism.
supposing you like them for X and hate them for Y - for the aforementioned reasons there probably isn't a world (parallel or future) where they are X but not Y, because both of those things are downstream of deep causes.

Hi, the "not a web script" AWA5 implementation has finally reached an actual working release.

If you just want to try it without making changes, download the ZIP labeled "-tools-" appropriate for your platform. There is still the source code included, but you don't have to compile it.
Manuals are included, you might want to read the HTML document (it has dark mode too).

Sales pitch to convince you I haven't wasted time when other implementations exist:
- super small, each compiled binary is only a few KB
- supposedly the fastest implementation (no real benchmark available right now)
- zero compile- or run-time dependencies other than the OS
- easily composable so you can adapt the tools to your preferred workflow
- can be used even inside embedded systems or other limited-resources places (probably)

Roadmap if there is an interest in continuing it:
- add proper subroutines ("function calls")
- add a toggle to allow 8-bit opcodes so operations can be added freely (there are only about 10 empty slots in the 5-bit world)
- see if being able to make system calls is not just theoretical
