To clarify a bit, shin'eitai aren't really just bodyguards, they are devoted and fanatical idol fans who try to support their favorite idols in many ways. Some of them have done bodyguard/security type things but they also do stuff like follow their oshi around to all their concerts/events/etc. and act as cheerleaders and shit like that.
