Luca is the lighting rod for Pomu/Selen/Reimu/Enna's cattier tendencies that improves the flow of a collab by ensuring it doesn't hit less-resilient parts of the setup.
That's why it ultimately ended up working out. With someone else in his place Pomu would've gotten into dominance games which would've then proceeded to utterly bury Ike and left Finana to just occasionally throw in a word or two in-between just simply trying to win.

Like I can't and don't want to analyze how they feel about eachother behind the scenes, but we *do* have data to understand how the dynamics evolve/deteriorate depending on configuration.
