Random, dumb question -

Has anyone found listening to and trying to understand JP vtubers to be better for reinforcing/learning Japanese versus watching anime?
Relative to the amount of time I've spent watching anime I feel like I've learned very little and just read the subs, whearas right now I'm watching Nasa's stream and can literally feel myself having to think harder trying to piece together the conversation.
Need to spend time actually learning.
