I think I SORT of get it, but I do share similar sentiments. I'm too old, past the point of redemption to even be engaged with the story. The love aspect is the weak link, and the entire plot relies on it to be compelling to drive another point. I'm too coked up in caffeine to articulate, but I basically agree with Petra with some caveats. Your Name was sorta better because I like the Waiting Shed scene, and it representing a space outside of time and the meeting of two different people who are otherwise parallel due to time (and age).
