What I was kind of imagining with my original design is some little people like vid and pic related, having a cloak covering all their limbs, and something like the pic you posted where when a hooman starts running they either seem to start sliding around or "stand up" with legs sprouting like your pic
This means they can just be cute little blobs, but then if the artist wants to they can have the hoomans be more active or authorative by standing
