That's a bit of a different thing, anon, the idea is that the Chicago School is the place which introduced the concept of "Shareholder Value Theory" into the economy, whereas before the widespread adoption of this theory, the markets operated on a "Social Integration" theory of value, where the objective of a company was to make it as integrated into the community of customers as possible, which would thereby insure long-lasting profits. That's why you see shit like in the 1950s, nearly every company would position itself as a family staple, branding was everywhere, and corporations tried to make their image as clean as possible, and worked with communities when they could. Profit-seeking, of course, but limited by their public perception.
"Shareholder Value Theory," in competition with that, believed that any company doing "socially aware business" was robbing shareholders of potential profits. They posited that the ONLY goal of a company should be this:
>BIGGER NUMBERS.
Shareholders should be given the maximum stock price, because they own the company, and any company CEO that goes against that value is, in the eyes of the Chicago School, "robbing value" from the people who own them.
This is what drove the markets up until fairly recently, and is still a strong theory in upper echelons, although "Stakeholder Theory" is more recently coming to dominance. But the point was, any system which encourages "BIGGER NUMBER AT ALL COST, MUST MAKE THE GROWTH CONTINUE" will forego community integration and the well-being of both the consumers, and the people involved in production, which has resulted in Nijisanji EN's consistent case of "number rot."
