according to doki, that's half of what happened. Nocturnal introduced them and he works for her as a side project because he respects her. He's definitely getting paid, and so is his team that he brought with him though because Doki made a whole tangent about how she's the boss now and has to deal with things like salaries and taxes for her new team. They're friendly with each other but it's still a business relationship. From what it sounds like, she's basically a hobby/side project after his main job of managing an esports team.
