I don't think Sayu is malicious, she just has a chip on her shoulder due to her treatment by other vtubers post termination and pre-Dokibird (understandably), and doesn't stop to think about who it will hurt when she says the things she does. She would have never gotten into VShojo even if Matara wasn't around exactly because of this tendency to impulsively say things that lead to drama for those around her.

My read on Matara is that like a cockroach she's a highly adaptable person that learns from her mistakes. Her content before joining Nijisanji was polarizing, so she dropped that kind of content and tried to find out what people wanted while in Nijisanji only to accidently anger the sisters. When she redebuted in Vshojo she was overly cautious for months until she was confident she learned about Twitch vtuber culture. I don't think she would intentionally do anything that she knows would jeopardize her popularity or relationships with the high profile vtubers around her, just for a former colleague who's become a black sheep of the industry.
