Fun fact: when I had to choose a 3rd language to learn I had the option of doing Nihongo or Hebrew.
All of the Jews I know speak English, Russian, or both, while the esteemed Japanese instructors I dealt with increasingly often spoke only Nihongo, and a good interpreter charges $300 per day + expenses.
