>It’s December 1944
>You and your buddies in the 101st are holed up in Bastogne
>It’s cold enough you shouldn’t be surprised if your balls froze solid then fell off
>Not to mention you were surrounded on all sides by the Krauts
>You’re huddled in your foxhole, wrapped in extra clothing from some dead Krauts
>They’ve already tried to break through your line multiple times, but you pushed ‘em back every time
>The cold nips at your nose as you lie in wait
>You hear a boom in the distance, then suddenly your position is being bombarded with shells
>You’re blown out from your foxhole
>You’re lucky to be alive, but not lucky enough to be out of the barrage yet
>You run and duck for cover, sprinting through the forest as the trees around you shatter and splinter into a million pieces
>Your leg catches on a rock, sending you falling forward
>You tumble down a rocky hill falling off a large boulder, landing hard on the ground
>You hear an audible snap and feel an extremely sharp pain in your leg
>You look down
>Your right leg is broken, twisted in unnatural ways while part of your femur juts out of your skin
>You clutch your leg in pain as the shells continue to fall
>You close your eyes
>You never got to see you wife again, or hold your son
>Dying in the middle of winter in some godforsaken forest halfway around the world
>You hear the whirr of an approaching shell
>This is the end

>You open your eyes
>You’re not dead
>Standing above you is a...woman?
>She’s the most beautiful dame you’ve ever seen
>You look over her body, her unusual outfit
>Until you notice her outstretched arm
>In the air above it, as if frozen in time, is an artillery shell, twice as big as you
>The shell that was supposed to do you in
>The women turns around and smiles at you with the most beautiful face you’ve ever seen
>You’re not sure if it’s the blood loss or whether you’ve finally gone nuts but at this point you don’t really care
>With a wave of her hand you leg starts to straighten, your exposed bone retracts into your leg, and the immense pain fades away
>Your slowly reach out and touch your leg, expecting pain, only to find it completely healed
>You can’t believe your eyes
>You look back up to thank her but she’s gone
>Your buddies in the platoon manage to find you after the barrage
>You tell them about the mysterious woman who saved your life and healed your leg
>None of them believe you and tell you to get some sleep before you go even crazier
