these fuckers are one of the creepiest ones to me. they metagame the immune system by having mutations not proliferate until the majority that have the current 'coat' are nearly extinguished. then one of the mutations rapidly proliferates to become the next majority coat. the end result is that the immune system is always three steps behind. just thinking about these fuckers inside my body figuring out the new meta against my immune system makes my skin crawl.
