I said he wrote the story for the original game alongside sakaguchi. I was talking about all the extra games and movies and such post FFVII. He got his name tacked onto Advent Children basically cause he wanted to be involved, but he didn't do much more than direct the action scenes, and had little to do with the actual story. He didn't find out he was the director for the remake until the game was already in development. Real what the fuck moment when a game is already being made and you don't know you're the director of it. Everything I've come to understand was that Kitase was the major force behind Remake, he was the producer. Something about how producing and directing is a bit different in Japan, I dunno.
