The clique split at some point between Elira's loyals who decided to stay in NijiEN, and Matara's followers, who left Niji and are now recouping in vshojo/indie limbo.
That's why Matara's status in thr clique always seemed kinda off, she was trying to fit in, failed to do so and said fuck it I'm making my own, or clique behaviour from the start wad her trying to convert people to her side.

Matara's also sprawls across a longer range of indies, thus has more connections; and also avoids the NijiEN black mark to their name.

Meanwhile Elira's stand that they know she's a "good girl" and want to rebuild NijiEN to it's former glory in hope of the biggest payout in the end.
