Yes, talk to your teachers first. Try to see if you can keep any credits or do makeup classes for certain general subjects so you don't have to spend as much time on them. I'm not sure what your school's policies are, but either way you will probably be an irregular student, so you need to make sure you keep on top of things from now on, ok? Yes! I even had surgery (was fully under) where they placed the IV on foot since they couldn't access anywhere else. They did say it was highly unusual and that my veins were apparently tiny. They'd use the smallest gauge needles and still have issues.
