Discord account managers were initially lower cost hires; understudies meant to handle donation rewards for the talents.
For obvious reasons the talents were never supposed to do it themselves, stand-in could do that separately so talents could focus on their vtubing activity, and would just get a share of each donation.

After the backlash however, perks were removed and most of those hires left without much to do and thus they barely log in most of the time, expect for Lumi's understudy, it's rumored Lumi herself had a proposition of paying her a little extra to manage her discord in off-time, and this is the result.
