just learned about this interesting mushroom called bird's nest fungus. it's caps open upwardly to reveal little "eggs" containing spores. when a drop of rain lands in the cup, the force of the drop causes the "eggs" to launch a few feet away where it's silk-like tail catches onto a blade of grass or debris, etc. the "egg' dries and opens to release the spores inside and it carries on its life. kinda reminds me of those trypophobia pics from /b/ threads of yore.
