>It’s not the majority of the en scene
I agree. The most eye catching cases were HoloEN and VShojo, which so happen to the market leaders in their respective streaming platforms in the EN scene.
Then indies tried and failed to emulate them, and absurdly exquisite lore fell to the wayside because it’s expensive and useless
>Even JP does huge lore heavy Gens like holox
I disagree. Having supplemental material outside the main activity is part of “Hololive Alternative” (HoloAlt for short) but, as far as the promotion of the gen went (on debut), it was
>HoloX SS, here are their roles, they’re debuting tomorrow
and that’s it.

If you want “excessively elaborate lore” in the JP field you should look at SONY’s VERSEn, they hired key industry players from shows like K-On and Darling to the Franxx for their vtubers
(only to forget completely about the actual “supporting the vtubers” part)

>Following the teaser the VTuber project made on November 1st this year, ‘VERSEn’, the new Vtuber project from Sony Music Entertainment (Japan), has officially launched its first music video, as well as released the character description of the new project and their debut dates.
>The beautiful visuals for the music video were made possible by Yukiko Horiguchi, known as the chief animation director and for her character designs across anime series like K-On! and Lucky Star.
>In addition, maxilla, known for the opening movie of Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia and Darling in the Franxx”, also participated in the visual production.

>even when they debuted sony did jack shit to promote them
HOLY FUCK, they hired the FGO and Darling to the Franxx animator to make their MV and the director of K-ON and Lucky Star to direct

I guarantee that they spent more money in this than what was spent in ANY of Cover or Anycolor MV including the Marine expensive ones.
They are absurdly incompetent in how they promote it but it was not because they "did nothing", it was because they still think you can throw money at a problem and make it go away

>if they did this far far earlier into their career
But they did, and with even more money, their debut MV was stacked as fuck

It matters fuck all if they don't properly advertise their chuubas, provide for their streaming needs and course correct if they perceive things aren't going right.
This is just Sony tossing money in the fire

>Versen literally gets no support.
For fuck sake, it may be like that now but here is a blast from the past

With that lineup it EASILY costed more than Marine's most recent MV.
it was not lack of tossing money, but lack of competence and you're right, fi not for this humble cantonese shitposter central the western world wouldn't even know they exist
>which corroborates my point that you can't buy a seat in the table
