Mid-2020, I think. Around the time gen5 debuted. I felt like all I was going to get from Hololive was the same ol', and I wanted to see what other companies/indies had to offer. Also, every holo is guaranteed to start out huge, so there's no longer any idol journey to speak of in this idol company.
Way too many vtubers rely on the "cute voice + cute avatar" formula to drive their content, and it only serves to pull in retarded simps and drones (and their silly money). Talent and entertaining content are surprisingly absent in this industry. This applies to almost all of Hololive despite their shining brand, but also most of Nijisanji, 774, indies etc.

Clips are easily the best thing about the scene. I still catch the occasional holo/niji/other clip, but I couldn't possibly be bothered to waste my time on any of their streams. I've mostly gone back to anime and manga.
