It's embarrassing that I have to be the one to say this out loud but here's the actual real reason: The whole reason I and most other male vtuber fans watch female vtubers is to forget about men in our real life. Every day I go to work or the store and I see dozens of men who are taller than me, stronger than me, make more money than me, and get more girls than me. It sucks that they exist, but at least when I go home, I can watch my oshi and not be reminded about them. At least I have her attention.

But watching her collab with and flirt with another man just brings all that right back. I'm being reminded that another man became a successful enough vtuber to the point that he gets to appear on stream and I don't. If another female vtuber goes on my oshi's stream and flirts with her, she's another vtuber, she's another woman so it doesn't really reflect me as a man. But if she flirts with a man, it shows that she really doesn't view me as anything other than a paycheck. Which was always true, but now she's not even bothering to pretend, which is the whole reason I pay her in the first place
