Ahhh, that makes sense and sorry for having to go through that experience. You are right, though. The reason I mentioned DMs was back then on IRC I got invited to a private irc and they were quick to try to groom me and I listened to dad about not giving people info and closed out and never went back. Kids these days are rewarded for soapboxing on social media with clout and dopamine, and they make themselves easy targets. I'd be restrictive with my kids but ease up when they become teens since they need to socialize, but also probably monitor their devices out of paranoia too, and not because I don't trust them.
