One of the best pieces of advice for Adept is to just push no matter what.
Don't worry about dealing in at your level.
Just play efficiently.
You need to learn how to play with max efficiency because if you do not then when you get to expert everyone already knows how to do that.
It's much better to teach yourself acceptance when you are starting out, than to have to learn it when you are expert. This is often why people who reach expert end up deranking back to adept. Everyone in Expert rooms already knows how to quickly build a hand.

Yes, you discard tiles that people are likely waiting on at the start, allowing those dangerous tiles to path safely.
Then when someone is riichi, you just discard tiles in their pond, because they cannot ron you off them.
So if someone discards a 3s, they cannot ever ron someone's 3s.

Another tip is that 47 are very unsafe tiles. They are the core building blocks of almost every hand.
