The mirror place really reminded me of it, have you heard of the game Blasphemous? It's a more modern metroidvania/soulslike game, think Hollow Knight. It's got gorgeous pixel art visuals inspired by Spanish catholic aesthetics and really just everything is polished and up to snuff. A bit hard occasionally perhaps though.
