My introduction to vtubing was Kizuna Ai, but what pulled me in was a certain feudal lord-inspired vtuber collabing with another vtuber on a "totally not 3-way BJ" ASMR video that's still up to this day. Pic related.

At the beginning Korone and Miko were famous for playing western games. Doom and GTA respectively. If people were so sick of western media all of their GTA playthroughs wouldn't have been such hits. And though Leddit is a sensitive topic for you, evidently - Coco's Reddit reviews WERE hugely popular. Reviews that hinged entirely on western content, presented by a westerner. I don't think there was ever a point in time where the Hololive fanbase wasn't absolutely dominated by people who enjoyed western media... at Gura's peak her popularity was extremely mainstream, and you had western e-celebs such as Sykkuno trying to get into her... and again, the sheer amount of Hololive memes centering around western pop culture references are staggering. Even on this very board! I understand that you're very proud of your hypothesis, but there's really no evidence suggesting it's the case. There is a lot of evidence pointing to the contrary.
