There's no real "trick".
You just need to :
>Be careful with where you're driving because hitting a wall or an obstacle can send you faaaar behind
>Drift as much as possible for extra speed
>Make sure to take tight turns as much as possible, unless you're trying to get items.
>If you got mushrooms, always use shortcuts
>TAKE THE DAMN COINS AND REACH 10 ASAP
>If you're on the lead, only use your items defensively (aka keep that green shell on your butt the whole time)
